Frequently asked questions

Frequent Asked Questions

Q: What is the charity’s mandate when donating equipment

A: We donate IT to hospital schools for use in their classrooms and on the ward, also (on the recommendation of a hospital teacher) we donate a PC to go into the home of a sick child from low-income family who can’t afford a PC.

Q: What age groups does IT4CH cover?

A: We provide support for children aged 3 – 18 (i.e. school-age)

Q: What about educational software do you provide?

A: We have donated literacy, numeracy, science, languages and certain types of games to every hospital school.

Q: What parts of the country do you cover?

A: IT4CH covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but not Scotland as Scotland has it's Charit Commision and we would need to set up a separate Scottish office to fund raise or donate within Scotland. IT4CH is not resourced to doe this at this time.

Q: Isn't this work which should be done by the Government?

A: Yes, perhaps. However, the Department of Health is only responsible for providing space on the wards for teaching. The Education itself should be funded by Government via the LEAs, who are responsible for the education, but this an area where little is done for the Tuition Units in the hospital schools, so the donations from IT4CH supporters and sponsors helps to support the important work of these units and ensure valuable but limited resources are used effectively.

Q: What is your biggest challenge?

A: The biggest challenge in the present economic climate is raising funds for our work, which is often perceived to be the responsibility of Government.
